Plaintiff Barragan, a 50 year experienced roofer, was working on re-roofing the second story of the building, when he came in contact with a defective electrical service connector from an electrical pole of XYZ Electric Utility. The connection was not properly insulated and electrocuted Plaintiff causing him to lose his balance and fall to the ground 24 feet below. Plaintiff suffered serious bodily injuries which resulted in paraplegia. Plaintiff sued XYZ Electric Utility company for failure to provide a safe electrical connector. Shortly before trial, XYZ Electric Utility company settled for catastrophic injuries suffered by Plaintiff Barragan and loss of consortium claim on behalf of his wife for a total sum of $3,000,000.00.
